MARCHING BAND & COLOR GUARD
This ensemble is perhaps the most visual performing group at Santa Teresa High School. Marching Band explores high quality musical literature with the addition of motion and visual impact. The band will perform at select home football games, marching competitions, and the homecoming parade.
All Marching Band members are required to be enrolled in the Marching Band class. This ensemble strives to entertain and excite the audience with emotion and high energy show design.
You can expect to practice 3 days per week (4 for Percussion and Guard)
The STHS Marching Band and Color Guard competes in Class 3A in the Western Band Association circuit.

Summer Band Camp:
Our award-winning Marching Band and Color Guard program is a rewarding opportunity to work with fellow musicians and guard members to gain experience as a team in a competitive environment. This is a commitment of your time and begins with Summer Band Camp! During these 2 weeks, you will learn the 2025 season show music, marching performance techniques and basic drills. Join us to kickoff the exciting new season and meet new friends before the school year starts!
Summer Band Camp is a great way to meet other students in the program so you’ll already know some before the first day of school! The all-day camp is usually held during the last two weeks of July.
Summer Workshops: June 11, June 25, July 9, 5pm – 8pm
Band Camp 1st Week: July 21 – 26, 9am – 8pm
Band Camp 2nd Week: July 28 – August 2, 9am – 8pm
Meet at the band room for the workshops and the first day of camp.
Workshops are optional. Camp is required.
If you will miss any camp dates, a parent/guardian should contact the band director in advance so that you may be excused.

Band Classes
We have various band classes
Symphonic Band
Symphonic Winds is a performing group at Santa Teresa High School that is designated for band students with at least one year of high school band experience and for incoming freshman.
Instruction for this ensemble focuses on the preparation of music in a variety of types and styles for public concerts and other events, and on the development of band techniques (tone, rhythmic accuracy, technical facility, articulation, intonation, blend, balance, and musical expression).
Wind Ensemble
The Santa Teresa Wind Ensemble is the advanced concert band at Santa Teresa High School. You must audition to get into this band. Auditions are held in the spring.
Instruction in this ensemble focuses on the preparation of music in a variety of types and styles for public concerts, adjudicated festivals, and other events along with a focus on high school level band technique (tone, rhythmic accuracy, technical facility, articulation, intonation, blend, balance, and musical expression). Students are required to participate in all performances by the group.
This Ensemble requires an increased level of commitment by the students who have demonstrated superior levels of knowledge, enthusiasm, self-direction, and skill. This is the opportunity for advanced musicians to showcase their talent.
Jazz Band 1
Jazz I is our premier Jazz band. Auditions, held in the spring are required. Jazz I is a class held during the school day, usually during 5th period.
Winter Guard
Santa Teresa Winter Guard is a competitive performing arts program of Santa Teresa High School.
It is an after school program sponsored by STMAA from December-April. This competitive ensemble competes at winter guard shows performing a custom show (with music, costumes, flags etc.) through their season. There are fundraising opportunities for this program. Participation in winter guard, while encouraged, is not required for color guard members.
